Halloween Make Up With The Basics

So, if you're like me, you probably don't have a big variety of make up in your arsenal. I don't wear a full face of make up most of the time so my bag consists of some lipsticks, eyeliner pens and eyebrow powder. But, since I'm also too cheap and too poor to afford Halloween make up, I thought I would venture onto Pinterest (like I usually do) and get some ideas for this Halloween. Dressing up, for me, is probably not going to happen this year but last minute things can still come up!

Anyway, here are some faces that, thanks to Pinterest, are possible with minimal make up:

Halloween makeup

Ignore the eyes. I mean, they look cool but the make up is something that I'm focusing on. All with eyeliner and eyebrow filler! If you do want the eyes, they're £10 - £20 (according to a Google search of "cat eye contacts").

Cat woman make up....so tempted to do this on Halloween at work even though my boss says no costumes... really? lighten up people!

The cat/catwoman look always has been and always will be a popuar choice.

Foundation, eyeliner and lipstick! Done!
I think the look could be a bit scarier with some red lipstick smudged beneath the waterline.

Yes, it is a lot of eyeliner. Yes, it is worth it. You don't have to make that many cracks...

Short Neck Problems

I have an annoyingly short neck and it's starting to get on my nerves a little bit. I think the cold is getting me...

Having a short neck does restrict you quite a bit fashion-wise because not all things you wear are that flattering and can sometimes makes your neck disappear altogether.

Turtleneck sweaters are probably my worst enemy. I've only ever owned one turtleneck and the only reason I wore it was because it was ridiculously warm to wear, especially during the snowy months - what turtleneck isn't? That thing swallowed my whole neck so my chin just sort of sat on top of the fold of the jumper.
Turtleneck, suede skirt<---didnt know a turtleneck could be CUTE. But this is ADORABLE. dude.
Photo from Pinterest
Clothes with a low and wide neckline in general are also things that I avoid personally just because they emphasise the neck and chest area. Whenever I wear a top like that I usually couple it with a cardigan so that there's something close to the bottom of my neck.

I get really sensitive and self-conscious about it so I am very careful when I choose what clothes to buy. The majority of my wardrobe consists of collared shirts and T-shirts with high round necklines. Look back at my older posts with photos of me and the majority of them have me in a sleeveless collared top. I've got plenty of those...

Jewellery-wise, it's not that bad. Long necklaces are my best friends, though, since they sort of make your neck look longer in photos. You can see how much I think about this!

So that was my little rant/pointless explanation for the day. That's all for now. Stay beautiful x

People That Entertain Me

So I barely watch TV nowadays and I've pretty much moved on to people that exist on the internet. I don't really show my appreciation for others that much on this thing but I do stalk some people, especially YouTubers, quite a bit.

Being a casual blogger, I do spend quite a lot of time looking at other blogs, mainly Geek Chic Notes and Guilianna Marie, for no other reason than I talk to them, sort of. I enjoy reading something if I know the person behind it a little bit; I feel less like a stalker and more like a friend. I got Bloglovin about a week ago, I think, and I just love reading the posts on there. It's also a gateway to other bloggers that I probably wouldn't have come across on my own.

On YouTube, I stalk people to the max. I will spend a whole day watching just one person's videos if I really want to. Finding PewDiePie was a good day! He's not a recent find, by the way. I started watching PewDiePie videos way before he had 2 million bros... I also stalk Cry quite a bit too. Away from the gaming side of YouTube (a big side to it), I love watching vlogs. My personal favourite is Nat (communitychannel). I am convinced, and my friends agree to this, that she is an Australian me. Her sense of humour and the way she speaks and what she actually says are things that I might say and laugh at as well. We have a connection! She just doesn't know it yet.

When I was around 14/15 years old, I absolutely loved beauty vloggers like Bubz and Michelle Phan. Nowadays, make up tutorials and things like that really don't interest me anymore. The only reason I've found is that I've become comfortable with how I do my make up now; I know more about different products now than I did then and I've gotten used to it so much that I can probably wing it with a certain look and it would come out okay. I do love watching Bubz's daily vlogs. Baby Isaac is ridiculously adorable!

So that's a snippet of who I find interesting. I hope you find me a good read (or satisfactory at least) as well.

Trendy Tuesday: Matte Nail Polish

Matte nail polish is something that has fascinated me for quite a bit. I'm not sure where to get matte polish or if I can even afford it (you can tell I've done my research...) but I do know that I want a bottle of the stuff now!

Beautiful Emerald Matte Nails. Polishes. Polish. Nail art. Nail design.

The finish is really nice and I think it looks elegant in its own way. It has a sort of chalkboard effect on your nails and I like how you can use the shiny paint to create patterns on top of the matte. It's like your nails are mini canvasses. Now, I'm not saying that you can't do this with glossy polish - you obviously can. I just find the finish a lot nicer with the contrasts.

I'm not a fan of buying cosmetics online - I like seeing the products in real life and in my hands. I haven't really seen matte polishes around so I need some guidance, please!

#TeenBlogSeries: My Fashion Icon

Vivienne Westwood. A crazy little ginger lady that I absolutely adore!

Vivienne Westwood by Tim Walker | Vogue, October 2009

My obsessions with Westwood and her collections probably started about 4 years ago(-ish) when I started to browse around for influences and designers. This was the time when I was absolutely set on having a career in the fashion industry. I'm applying to Fashion and Fashion Design courses at various universities this year and I really do hope that I get into one of them.

Vivienne Westwood - this look reminds me of Alice from alice in wonderland because alice speaks to wild flowers which are featured on this dress. The off the shoulder look also makes the overall outfit look like she has been walking around for a long time so the dress starts to fall.

Vivienne Westwood's designs are alternative and they don't really meet the expectations that you would have of other designers and companies like Armani and Dior - their haute couture collections, for example, are very glamorous whereas Westwood's ones are more artistic. I'm not saying other designers are generic, no way! They all have their styles and individuality. Westwood's is just the one that appeals to me the most.

I don't hope to be as big as her one day. That's a really high goal to set myself. It's also not like me to go out there and be the centre of attention; I'd much rather work under a company rather than lead my own one. I'm creative, yes, but I'm not a leader. I can be one, though, when I have to be!

So, that's my fashion icon! Who's yours?

A Day Out: I Drove A Car!

Blogger had a meltdown on my laptop yesterday and I couldn't get onto it to post this. Not my fault.

Being an almost-18 year old with no learner's permit saddens me whenever I think about it. I doubt I'll get one anytime soon...

Anyway, to overcome the sadness and the fact that I am not allowed in a car on a road, last year, for my 17th birthday, my parents bought me a driving lesson on what I thought was going to be a track. When I went there yesterday (yeah, I held the thing off for 11 months...) it turns out that the place is actually an old airfield and I was going to be driving around a massive space with no actual roads.

The place was in Upper Heyford. As well as having lessons for people like myself, the place also had driving experiences for people who wanted to drive around in supercars! My dad did this last year in Leicester and he loved it. This was probably the closest I was ever going to get to a Lamborghini and Ferrari...

The weather could have improved a little bit yesterday. Right now, it's pretty sunny outside.

I did the lesson with two other guys: one was a 13 year old hell-bent on go-karting and driving fast; the other was a 17 year old guy who was actually pretty cool. When the littler one was driving, we were just in the back seats of the car chatting away. He was the first to drive and we were all taking turns so whenever his go was up, he would tell me what to do and give me tips for my go.

I really liked driving and it wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be. It was a lot to remember at first but I managed to pick it up quite quickly. I didn't crash! Or knock down any of the cones they set up for us to drive through and around. My dad was filming me throughout the whole thing. It was so embarrassing when I realised and he did post it on Facebook...

This just made me more desperate to get a permit. My passport is currently in the process of being renewed and I have a job now which means I can pay for it!

Feather Update!

So quite a lot of people know that I wear a singular feather earring quite a lot. It's a blue and purple one. Originally, it was al blue until some feathers were pulled off by accident by a friend. I replaced those with purple ones.

I got bored of it! I took the blue feathers out and replaced THOSE with yellow ones!

I know it isn't a great photo... I took it about five minutes ago and the light in my room is really yellow... You've probably also noticed the constant change in my hair styles. I get bored of that too...

Trendy Tuesday: Ponchos And Blanket Wraps

I got one of these a few years ago as a birthday or Christmas present and back then they weren't as popular, meaning that the one I have now isn't as big or as covering as the ones people have now. I do like it, though, don't get me wrong, for a piece of triangular fabric, it's really warm!

Wraps seem to be slowly replacing your good old-fashioned cardigan (it is around here, anyway) and I really do like the differences between each one in terms of shape, materials and colours. My one doesn't really fit into the trend because it's not knitted to start with. It's also printed with a very happy skulls and cemetery scene along the back so I don't think that it's very appropriate for school.

Blanket wraps can go with pretty much anything and it's a nice way to make the transition between summer and winter clothes as the days get colder; you can still get away with shorts or a skirt with tights if you have a thick wrap on top.

I like the idea of being able to wear a blanket outside. It is so cosy!

#Teenblogseries: Beauty Tips

I only found out about this thing last week so I metaphorically jumped at the opportunity as soon as I could!

Beauty Tips. That's the topic. Way back when I had my "Top Tips Tuesday" series, I did a post on "how to win the winter battle" since our skin is a lot more vulnerable out in the cold. For this post, I'm just going to share some general beauty tips that I've learnt from others or have found out myself!

1. Always, ALWAYS clean your face right before you apply make-up, especially if you're planning on wearing foundation. Not only does this give you a smoother surface to work on but it reduces the chance of getting spots since your pores will be clean and you won't trap any dirt between your skin and the foundation. My skin gets irritated really easily since I have sensitive skin so this is pretty much a must for me.

2. Don't try to match your eyebrows to a stencil or another person's eyebrows because it probably won't suit you. Stencils are great as a starting point but learn to identify where the curves in your eyebrows are and their overall shape - everyone is different. I started off with a stencil because my eyebrows sort of fit into it but I don't touch it anymore once I got used to filling in the different parts of my eyebrows.

Lola knows that eyebrows are the frame of the eye and SOOOOO important www.lolabyginapayne.com

3. Don't stick with one tool for your eyebrows: a pencil for the outer halves and powder for the inner halves. The inner ends of your eyebrows, ideally, should be subtly lighter than the edges and you shouldn't force the edges to be how you want them; if they slant, don't make them straight!

The one time I took my time with make-up for a job interview. I got the job!
4. Water is your best friend. It'll keep your skin and hair healthy. It prevents dry skin, guys! It's important!

A Day Out: Nottingham Trent University Open Day

This is the last open day that I planned on going to for now. I went earlier today and I must say I did love it! It was a big change from the last one I went to - Epsom - since the size of the university was HUGE in comparison; UCA Epsom has about 2,000 students altogether and NTU has about 30,000.

Obviously I went to the Fashion section of the university as part of the day. The facilities were really good and there was a lot available to the students as well. I also liked how focused the course was on the students - the group gets split into groups of 5 or 6 so you can get the attention you need in the workshops.

This isn't the building I'll be in if I do go there; I would be in Bonington since that's the Art and Design school. I just thought this part of the university was nice to look at. It's across the road from Bonington.

I don't know why but I felt really awkward taking pictures of the things around the university. It made me feel a bit like a tourist and I just got really awkward. I was with one of my friends who also went to the open day - we went to the accomodation together - and, I don't know, I sort of took pictures as subtely as I could, pretending to text or something. I never held my phone up. I sort of held it against my chest most of the time so I never really knew what I was taking a picture of.

Of course, I got quite a lot of things from the university, including a student cookbook that I will definitely use in whatever university I decide to go to.

I didn't go around the town and I really wish I did. I saw glimpses of it as I went around the campus but my dad went around the high street by himself whilst I was looking at the accomodation and the library. The library has a Starbucks inside! I got a caramel frappe. I rarely get a hot coffee when I'm out. It's usually a frappe. At home I do love my black coffee, though.

If Only I Could Fund A YouTube Channel

Either yesterday or the day before (I'm not completely sure), one of my friends had a brain fart and thought it would be a brilliant idea if I had an actual running YouTube channel to coincide with this thing. I mean it could work if I really wanted to; I'm not terribly at video editing and I do like talking to myself and imaginary people. I just don't have the time or the money to actually do this thing and do it well since all of the technology I own is pretty much from the prehistoric ages - my laptop especially. I still need a USB thing to get Wi-Fi... Yeah...

I do have a job now! I've been getting really frustrated because I just could not get a job at all but now I have one. It's been almost a year since I had a job and the other one I had did not pay as well as I'm getting paid now. It's definitely a nice feeling knowing I'm so close to being able to afford a new laptop. I start in about 3 weeks and I still haven't got the uniform sorted but I'm getting that sorted out as soon as I possibly can.

If I do go ahead with a channel, which is ridiculously unlikely, then I'll probably start it on the same week that I start university. It makes more sense to start with a new chapter in my life because I'll have things to talk about and more freedom to do so. There's no way that I'll ever find time in this house.

Trendy Tuesday: Tattoo Chokers

Okay, even though I'm not a fan of this trend, it is a trend so, by blog laws, they deserve a place on this thing.

SUN choker necklace grunge & moon 90s 1990s festival summer

I honestly think that there should be a limit to how often people can wear these things. I see some girls wear girly pastel day dresses that make them look like dolls and then you see a black choker on their neck. It just doesn't work. That doesn't mean I dislike them completely; on some people they look really nice and they are perfect for those who love going grunge.

For all the grunge witches o’ the world — the crescent moon tattoo choker is back in stock!

With me, there are rules concerning my neck because, unless I've let you, I don't like people touching my neck. If I'm wearing a necklace, you may touch the necklace and look at it but not my neck. It's not a fear. There are moments where I feel like I'm about to be strangled when people's hands come close to it, though. I'm just extremely ticklish.

Polkadot scallop black lace choker in goth grunge 90s rad lolita fad medium band tie back

The trend started in the 90s and it came back at some point during the summer. In my school I don't really see them being worn by anyone in my school year but in the year below I'm pretty sure about 90% of the girls there have one. The styles between the Year 13s and the Year 12s are so distinctly different, like their a whole other generation, yet we're only a year apart.
